A note about our centre: While many music stores offer lessons, Whyte Ridge Music Academy offers a learning environment that goes beyond regular lessons. Many places simply rent out studio space to musicians. Although there is nothing wrong with this type of program, we feel that we go a step further by offering a music education centre consisting of professional instructors "hand-picked" by the store owners. All of our instructors are highly qualified, contracted individuals, most with a university degree, or attaining their university degree. Not only do we hire the best possible instructors, we also administer our music programs and curriculum to ensure that the students are getting the most out of their instruction. These measures ensure that you or your child are provided with quality instruction at a consistent level year after year, regardless of what instrument you choose or which instructor is teaching.

Group Lessons Guitar: Group Guitar ages 7 and up -A program developed to help kids succeed at learning to play guitar whether beginner or advanced. -Group guitar lessons provide extra motivation making learning fun through interaction with their peers and helps them to learn at an accelerated rate. Available Monday-Friday evenings and Saturdays Call for availability
Piano: "Music and Me" Program for ages 2-4 -An excellet introduction to "the wonderful world of music" and prepares your child for "the next step" which is our Piano Junction Program. -Singing, games, various instruments and genres of music. -Parents attend each lesson and get to have fun alongside their children. -10 week program Only $120.00 Call for availability
Piano Junction Program for ages 4-7 -A graded pop music course that incorporates performance, ear training, and improvisation on the keyboard without giving up learning to read music. -Kids are highly successful in this program as it is fun, practical, they make friends, and they learn very quickly in the group setting. -Also includes plenty of singing, games, percussion instruments, and more. -Parents attend each lesson and get to have fun alongside their children. Available Monday-Thursday evenings and Saturdays Call for availability
Pops -A graded pop music course for those who have graduated from our Piano Junction course. -Kids continue to improve thier ear training, sight reading, performance, and improvisational skills. -Parents not required to attend these classes. These graded courses are exclusive to Whyte Ridge Music Centre, recognized in twelve countries, and can be used as an entrance requirement for some universities including Humber and McGill. Our teachers have been personally trained by the inventor of the program! Come in and view a class in session. Drums: Percussion Group (Congas, Bongos,Timbales, Shakers, Woodblocks, Bells, Drum kits, and more) -A Unique percussion course utilizing the many differant types of percussion instruments from around the world. -Students learn about different international musical customs and rhythms. -Helps enhance personal timing and tempo control while also teaching students how to play with other percussionists. Voice: Voice Ensemble -A fun and exciting program focused on teaching students to sing harmoniously in group settings as well as improving personal vocal ranges and pitch recognition. -Students also learn to read vocal music. Call for availability
Woodwinds: (Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet) Woodwind Ensemble -A Unique lesson program that gets concert band students playing together in a practical group setting. -Students learn sight reading, note control, how to play in harmony, music theory, breathing techniques, as well as increasing their personal ranges. -Whether you're learning for fun or for school this program has something for everyone. Violin: Group Violin -This course takes learning the violin a whole differant level. -Kids are highly successful in this program as it is fun, practical, they make friends, and they learn very quickly in the group setting. -Students learn sight reading, note control, how to play in harmony, music theory, proper techniques, and more. Special Programs
Rock Shop: -Every kid dreams of playing in a rock band, rock shop makes these dreams a reality. -Students play along side professional experienced teachers with kids thier own age. -Students learn how to play popular Rock and Pop music as well as learn how to write original music together as a band. -Students are also given the opportunity to perform in front of live audiences and also record their music in our recording studio. Theory: Ages 7 and up -Catch up on the requirements so you can receive your school credits & RCM certificates! -We offer Preliminary to Grade V theory so you can take an exam, or simply enhance your own knowledge as a musician. -Take a FastTrack course (compact learning) or go at your own pace.
